Fooditude rescues one tonne of surplus produce per month with Angry Monk

Established in 2005, Fooditude provides catering for major tech firms throughout London (we’re not allowed to name them, but they’re big names in streaming and software!). Fooditude makes all its delicious meals from scratch in its South London central kitchen (“the Mothership”) and maintains the highest possible standards for food quality, seasonality and sustainability. When Angry Monk launched in March 2022, Fooditude was one of the first customers to join our mission to rescue food surplus, prevent waste and fight climate change.

In our first six months working together, Fooditude rescued a whopping 5.6 tonnes of surplus produce! This translates to 6.8 tonnes of CO2e (equivalent to almost 56,000 car kilometres) and 1.8 million litres of water saved. During that time we have also collaborated with them on sustainability pop-up events for their customers across the tech and finance sectors.

“Working with Angry Monk has been super easy. We’ve tried other sources for surplus produce before and they never quite worked out – either because the produce wasn’t good enough or we couldn’t get the volumes we needed. With Angry Monk we’ve been able to add rescued veg to our menus every week. The impact report we receive helps us shout about what we’re doing to make our food more sustainable. All in all, it’s a great initiative and we’re so pleased that Angry Monk has become one of our trusted suppliers.”
